About Dr. Will Kurtz

Dr. Will Kurtz

Dr. Will Kurtz was born and raised in Houston, Tx. His journey to orthopedics began at age 15 when he shadowed an orthopedic surgeon in Houston for 3 weeks. After watching knee and hip replacement surgeries, Dr. Kurtz decided he not only wanted to perform replacement surgery, but also help design hip and knee implants.

Houston

While attending Rice University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Kurtz realized that mechanical engineering would be the most helpful study for designing orthopedic implants.

Dallas

Dr. Kurtz went to medical school at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Tx where he graduated in the top 2% of his class.

Nashville

Dr. Kurtz fulfilled his orthopedic residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center from 2000 to 2005. During this time, he met and married his wife, Dr. Emily Graham Kurtz. Emily is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and currently runs Vanderbilt’s concierge program.

Boston

Dr. Will Kurtz did his joint replacement fellowship at the New England Baptist fellowship while Dr. Emily Kurtz finished her masters of public health at Harvard.

In 2006, Will and Emily returned to Nashville. Will joined TOA where he still practices today and Emily joined Vanderbilt where she practices today.
